Profile

The Chinese Artists Association of Hong Kong (Barwo) has its inaugural co-operation with the Hong Kong Book Fair 2018 organized by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Through the exhibition, excerpt performances, and talks, audience can obtain deeper understanding and enjoyment of the beauty of Cantonese Opera. 

 

"A Gem of Chinese Culture - Cantonese Opera" Exhibition

Barwo has organized an exhibition, "A Gem of Chinese Culture - Cantonese Opera", in the Art Gallery. The exhibition will introduce the history of Barwo, and its effort in promotion, education, and preservation of Cantonese Opera. The display area will showcase invaluable Cantonese Opera scripts, leaflets, photos of renowned Cantonese Opera practitioners, journals and so on. Moreover, the eminent Cantonese Opera artists, Mr. Yuen Siu Fai and Mr. Wan Yuk Yu have their costumes specifically for Wai To (韋馱) and Hon Lung (降龍) respectively for the special showcase.

 

Local Culture and History Talk Series

Barwo has organized two talks about the history and development of Cantonese Opera and the operation of troupe. Details as below:

To let visitors have an all-round experience about Cantonese Opera, two excerpt performance will be showcased, starred by the artists of Cantonese Opera Young Talent Showcase and the graduates of the Cantonese Opera Academy of Hong Kong. Details as below:
