Performance Introduction


General of the Sui Dynasty Yang Yue fights against the Chen Dynasty. Realizing her country is collapsing, Princess Lechang bids her husband farewell and takes a broken mirror as their pledge of love. In order to cover up for her husband Xu Deyan to flee away, Princess Lechang shows off her beauty. Yue spares her life in sympathy and takes her as his wife. Princess Lechang together with her son and the tutor Gu Cunyi are appreciated by the mother-in-law Madame Yang and sister-in law Yang Shuangqing. After ten years, Deyan accidentally meets his son at Chang’an when selling mirror and gets informed that Princess Lechang has already got remarried. Yue hears about it and is determined to return the wife to Deyan. Beating and scolding at his wife, Yue forces Princess Lechang to leave home with her son and return to Deyan. Madame Yang blames his son for driving his wife away. Yue sadly reveals the real identity of Princess Lechang and reason of returning wife. Deyan and Yue try to let each other have the wife, while Princess Lechang feels ashamed for having served two husbands. She ends her life to express her gratitude towards the love and loyalty of both husbands.
