Performance Introduction

Wong Shui-lan, daughter of the Minister of War, is separated from her mother during the war and meets the cultivated talent Cheung Sai-lung one day in the wilderness. They fall in love during the journey and Shui-lan gives Sai-lung her hairpin as a token of marriage.

On the other hand, Madame Wong meets and adopts Sai-lung’s sister Cheung Shui-lin. Shui-lan and Sai-lung take refuge at where Chun Hing-fuk stays and get married. However, Shui-lan’s snobbish father, Wong Chen, separates the couple. Grieved, Sai-lung tries to drown himself in the river. Madame Bin saves and adopts him.

Wong Chen is promoted to prime minister three years later and he intends to marry Shui-lan and Shui-lin to the best two candidates in the imperial examination. In fact, they are Sai-lung and Hing-fuk under new names. Sai-lung and Shui-lan go to the Yuen-miu Temple to mourn their beloved one before the wedding. They meet again at the Moon Pavilion and give the snobbish Wong Chen a good lesson. The two pairs of lovers are finally reunited.
