Performance Introduction

During the period of the Warring States, Kingdom Qi launches an attack against Kingdom Zhao, taking advantage of its successor being young. Zhao seeks help from Kingdom Qin, but the Queen of Qin, Lok-ha, demands that the Crown Prince of Zhao, Lord of Chang’an be sent to Qin as a hostage. Princess Regent Tsui-bik rejects her demand and starts to look for elites to save the country. Ma Hang-tin recommends both his foster son Ha Ching-wan and his own son Ma Yu-lung. Though Ching-wan disdains worldly constraints, the Princess highly appreciates his talents and appoints him as her general. In order to save the country, Lord of Chang’an agrees to be the hostage.

Upon the day of joining forces with Kingdom Zhao, Tsui-bik dedicates Ching-wan a guqin (a Chinese string instrument) and a sword as tokens of love. However, King of Qin also falls for the beauty of Tsui-bik. After defeating the Qi’s army, King of Qin compels Tsui-bik to marry him. Tsui-bik accepts his request in order to save Lord of Chang’an. In fury, Ching-wan intrudes the Heroes’ Terrace when Tsui-bik is performing for King of Qin at the feast. In order to save Ching-wan’s life, Tsui-bik relegates him three times.

As Tsui-bik departs for Kingdom Qin, Ching-wan comes to know the truth behind the marriage and sees her off with sorrow. With the support of his family, Ching-wan pulls himself together. With Lok-ha switching sides to help, Ching-wan defeats King of Qin and gets Tsui-bik back. Finally, the two states are on friendly terms again, and Ching-wan and Tsui-bik come together.
