Saving a Prostitute

 

A courtesan named Sung Yan-cheung has made a love pledge with a scholar named On Sau-sut.  But lured by the sweet talk of a rogue called Chow Se, Sung Yan-cheung marries Chow Se instead, despite the voice of disapproval from her confidante, Chiu Pan-yee.  After marriage, Sung Yan-cheung suffers under the abusive Chow Se, and seeks help from Chiu Pan-yee, who devises a setup to trick Chow Se into divorcing Sung Yan-cheung. Soon Chow Se realises that he has been tricked, and reports to the authority that Chiu Pan-yee has abducted his wife.  To counter this, Chiu Pan-yee sues Chow Se in return and presents the divorce letter written by Chow Se. In the end, Chow Se is punished by caning, and On Sau-sut and Sung Yan-cheung finally become husband and wife.

 

The Riverside Pavilion

 

A scholar official, Bak Shi-chung, meets a widow, Tam Kee-yee, and the two are married.  But Esquire Yeung, the Court Officer, wants to have Tam Kee-yee for himself, so he lies to the Emperor to obtain an imperial decree and a sword to put Bak Shi-chung to death. Tam Kee-yee disguises herself as a fishmonger and meets Esquire Yeung at the Riverside Pavilion. Tam Kee-yee flirts with him and makes him drunk, then gets away with the imperial decree and the sword. Yeung’s fraudulent claim is discovered and has his official title taken away.

 

Meeting the Enemies Alone

 

Lu Su asks Liu Bei to return Jingzhou territory to the Wu kingdom. With his requests falling on deaf ears, he asks veteran strategists Qiao Xuan and Sima Hui for advice. They both advise Lu to let things take their natural course. But the restless Lo invites Guan Yu, Liu’s General, to a banquet in an attempt to force Liu to yield the territory. father to turn down the invitation, fearful that the host will harm him. But upstanding and brave Guan refuses to be flustered. Armed only with the Green Dragon Blade, the dauntless General attends the banquet with his sole attendant Zhou Cang. After crossing the river, Guan finds the banquet hall heavily guarded by troops. Braving the intimidation he reasons with Lu courageously. He then takes Lu hostage, breaks the siege, and returns to his country unscathed.

The performance of the "Showcase of Guan Hanqing's Works"(Rescheduled Performance) originally scheduled at 7:30PM on January 9 and 10, 2021 will be cancelled due to closure of cultural facilities of LCSD arising from the epidemic situation. The details on the programme change will be announced soon.

As the performances were cancelled due to the closure of performance venues,the performance scheduled on 9 & 10 January 2021 cannot arrange re-sheduled performance and refund will be arranged.

 

Patrons who keep the original intact tickets can use them for the rescheduled performance on the assigned dates.
