Cantonese opera is the local art of Hong Kong and the only performing arts in Hong Kong to be included in the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage List. Cantonese opera is one of the major categories in Chinese opera, originating in southern China's Guangdong Province. It is popular in Guangdong, Guangxi, Hong Kong, Macau and among Chinese communities in Southeast Asia. Like all versions of Chinese opera, it is a traditional Chinese art form, involving music, singing, martial arts, acrobatics, and acting. We hope that through the Project, under the guiding hands of these talented veterans, the essence of Cantonese opera will be passed down to new generations. As for the other "orthodoxy" of traditional Chinese culture, ideology, and values, we also hope that, through subtle nuanced performances, Cantonese Opera can fulfill an enlightening role to the community at large.opera in Hong Kong, allowing young audiences to appreciate the truth, goodness and beauty of this traditional Chinese art, and carry forward this intangible cultural heritage .
