Ko Siu-lun

Apprenticed for 22 years, specialize in male roles.

Student of Tsang Yuk-nui.

  • Which veteran are you a fan of, and why?
Predecessors such as Pei Yanling, Yue Meiti, Wang Zhiquan, Yam Kim-fai, and Loong Kin-sang. Pei and Wang show great physical work in their action sequences—controlled, agile, crisp and beautiful; their performances never burden the audience, only make them more excited and involved. In addition, I admire their profound empathy toward the roles they play, and the deep interpretations, character analysis and physicality that render each character vividly on the stage.
  • What aspect of the art do you think you need to work on?
Singing, acting, reciting, and fighting. Because at each stage there is a different feeling and understanding, I have to continue to hone those skills.
  • What would be your quest in the art?
I would not declare any particular ideals. I only hope that, with continuous study and practice, I can learn to be like my predecessors, giving good portrayals of each character.
