  • What is your most coveted role?
I would like to try and play a wide variety of different roles. When it comes to older scripts, I would like to perform roles from lesser known repertoire of the Tai Lung Fung Cantonese Opera Troupe. I am also interested in playing characters that are bookish and intellectual like Tang Wan in Forty Years of Cherished Love.
  • Which veteran artist(s) are you a fan of, and why?
Bak Shuet-sin and Fong Yim-fen, because their acting is soulful and convincing. They have developed their own distinct styles as well. When it comes to Beijing Opera, Kunqu and Yue Opera, I admire my teachers, Shi Jihua and Wang Zhiquan. In addition to my teachers, I also look up to Shi Yihong, Zhang Jingxian and Zhang Huoding.
  • What has been the greatest reward of joining our Young Talent Showcase?
On several occasions, I’ve been selected to perform in scripts that don’t have much reference material for me to look into which really trained me to be more creative. Now when I am writing or performing in new scripts, I am empowered by such experiences to come up with my own interpretations.
