Lau Yu-feng
Specializing in male roles. Lau is a disciple of Law Ka-ying. She studied under Wang Jialing, Zhou Lili, Zhu Xiaobing and Chan Fai-hung. In 2007, she was selected to play Zhou Shixian in the Youth Edition of Princess Changping. Lau was voted ‘Best Performer of the Year’ by a group of international Cantonese Opera critics. She completed her studies at Ching Fai Cantonese Opera College and the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.
- Which veteran artist are you a fan of, and why?Pei Yanling. I really admire her insistence upon perfection in Xiqu. Even in the face of adversity, she persists and works tirelessly.
- What is your quest in art?I strive to honor my predecessor’s legacy and attain a high level of proficiency and artistry, passing on such skills and knowledge through performing on stage and instructing off stage.
- Please share an interesting anecdote or an unforgettable moment on stage.The time where we performed on Po Toi Island when there was a tornado.
